"There's More Than One Way to Make A Democrat"

Story about how I turned my oldest, Olivia, into a staunch Democrat and almost ruined one of her friendships in the process. A longer version of this story, now titled “How to Make a Democrat from Scratch,” will appear in the anthology The Maternal is Political, due out from Seal Press in 2008.

"Baby Name Zeitgeist"

Story about how Tom and I bungled the naming of most of our daughters. Depending on when you see this, there may still be a reader comment about how diary-like and self-referential I sound, which is not about me but is a reference to some Huffington Post infighting involving a pharmaceutical executive who was ejected for his online raving. Not that I'm defensive about reader comments.

"Tot TV"

KQED Public Radio "Perspective" about what a rotten mommy I am for letting my toddler watch TV. The editor told me.
